Anyway, we were in desperate need of groceries because, per usual, our weekend slipped away from us. I mean we went on a costco trip and but just couldn't slip in that smaller grocery trip because the little one started crying and we were creeping into Cj's nap time (which unfortunately is an essential part of his day). Then the rest of the two days were spent on cleaning and taking down the tree and church and football. I also had some scheduled time to get out of the house with the girls, so thus wrapped up our fun-filled weekend. So yesterday, as I thought about pushing it just one additional day to when it would just be me and Tj, I was discouraged as the bare cupboards stared back at me. I got everyone ready and we slipped out with a goal of an hour trip.
And it worked! I got everything I needed on my list (thank God for lists!) and got out of there within 60 minutes. My worries were mostly of the unknown, since this was our first grocery trip together, but it was probably visions of Colin re-enacting "i'm king of the world" while I wheeled the cart down the aisles that haunted me. Rather, he was great! He even let me pile all my groceries around him and waited patiently while I decided between products in each aisle. It may have been the novel experience of sitting IN the cart that led to such sweet cooperation, but no matter, "I'll take it".
The rest of the day was a blur. The evenings are probably always going to be the hardest with both of them needing me; TJ and his "witching hour"; Colin winding down & wanting some mommy time while just being plain tired of his little brother taking up my time, and then with me craving some much needed sit-down time as well.
So last night I passed out while Jus did the overnight feed (which was around 1:30am) - and the little guy slept until he wanted to eat at about 6:30am! It was great. I am hoping this is a new trend for him.
